Energetics made me feel like a valued person, not just a number

Having originally applied for the Multi Utility Craftsperson Apprenticeship scheme at Energetics, the HR team acknowledged that John’s previous experience as a Welder, together with his HNC Electrical Engineering qualification, would be better suited to an Electrical based role, and created a Cable Jointing Apprenticeship scheme for him.

John comments: “When I got asked if I’d prefer doing the Cable Jointing course, I felt important because the company had actually looked at my credentials and taken them into account.

John has been very impressed with the course so far finding it formal, professional and comparing to friends companies, that the training is of a very high standard. He is finding the balance between study and working structured in a way that is manageable and says that the support he gets from his ‘buddy’ on site is excellent, ensuring that if John struggles get the activity right, his tradesman is happy to go through it until John understands.

I’m really enjoying working for Energetics as I’m working in new places everyday. Each site offers something new and interesting to work on.”

Having so far completed six months of the three-year apprenticeship, John says he has significantly increased his ability to use hand tools for onsite work. He strongly recommends Energetics both as an employer and to help young people get on to the careers ladder for the utilities industry through Apprenticeships saying “Definitely go for it!” He is pictured below with his colleagues on the Multi Utility Apprenticeship course with Energetics.
