Steven’s story

Case Studies: Steven’s story

Position: Multi Utility Apprentice
Location: Uddingston Scotland

It’s an honour being on one of the industry’s first Multi Utility Craftsperson Apprenticeships. It’s an excellent course.

Having heard about Energetics’ Apprenticeship opportunity through a friend that was already working for Energetics as a Cable Jointer, Steven Breslin was accepted on to the scheme due his previous experience with a maintenance services contractor working for housing associations.

marksAs one of the first apprentices at Energetics, I didn’t really have any expectations of the course but only six months in, and already I have enhanced my knowledge and skills in so many ways.

Steven (pictured below in the centre) is really enjoying the Multi Utility Craftsperson Apprenticeship with a good mix of study time and working on site. He’s found it rewarding to be involved on live projects such as the development of Dargavel village in Bishopton, helping to build the Gas and Water connections to new houses and commercial premises.

Energetics Multi Utility ApprenticeshipSo far, Steven has achieved NCO 1 and NCO 2 qualifications, as well as a number of certificates in Health & Safety, U/P Drilling and High Rise Service Laying, plus many more multi utility activities, all complimented by the practical experience gained on site.

marksThe job changes on a daily basis and it’s great meeting different people whilst working as a team.”

The Multi Utility Apprenticeship in Scotland is progressing well with just over two years before Steven and his two fellow Apprentices, Darren Johnstone and Brian Warnock, will be qualified to work on site as a Multi Utility Civil Operative.

Steven feels he has learnt a lot even in the first 6 months of the apprenticeship.
