Why Work For Energetics?

What makes us different

Energetics is headquartered in Scotland but operates across the UK. We work with many of the major construction firms to provide a one stop shop connection service. We offer a forward-thinking and can-do approach and our ability to operate in competitive utilities and connections sectors is dependent on a number of factors. We're agile and flexible, adapting to changing market conditions and keeping the customer at the centre of everything we do. We aim to be the employer of choice in the multi-utility connections sector and our commitment to our workforce is at the fore of all that we do.

Many of our current workforce has joined us with substantial industry experience gained at other utility connections companies and Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), bringing with them vast knowledge and technical acumen from the engineering sector. Others joining have been new to the industry and with ongoing training and development opportunities they have soon become part of an efficient working team. We offer good benefits and remuneration packages, but most importantly, an enjoyable and rewarding place to work.

Training and Development

Our senior management team strongly believe in supporting our employees with their career development aspirations and we have several training initiatives in place. We currently have three major Utility NVQ Programmes in place whilst being proud that Energetics has created its own Electrical Cable Jointing NVQ Programme, working with an external training provider to deliver this.

In June 2015, Energetics launched a Multi Utility Apprenticeship scheme initially to be rolled out in Scotland, offering potential employees the chance to become fully qualified as a Multi Utility Craftsperson over 3 years, whilst undertaking mix of onsite training and classroom based learning. Also during the course of 2015, Energetics will be continuing with our tailor-made NVQ programmes, where trainees achieve qualifications to become Multi-Utility Operatives and Cable Jointers. In addition, we will be introducing an Operations Apprenticeship Scheme, offering employees the chance to get hands-on vocational training whilst learning and achieving a recognised qualification, amongst other training commitments.

During 2015, our HR department have been working with the management team across the business to deliver many other training initiatives including:

  • Design training for 23 Gas Designers and Gas Design Coordinators
  • Upskill training for Jointers from LV (low voltage) to HV (high voltage)
  • Banksman safety training for over 90 operations staff including Civil Operatives and Civil Supervisors
  • Site management and safety training
  • Windeb training for Designers across the business
  • First Aid training

Across the business we have many employees who possess a wealth of knowledge and experience, who we have designated as our “internal trainers”. Our commitment to providing a welcoming ‘open-door’ culture means that if employees feel they need to ask even the simplest of questions, you can be reassured that the mentors we have in place, can help you to achieve excellent long-term prospects with Energetics.

At Energetics we provide opportunities for internal promotion, and secondments across several areas of the business including design and operations. This encourages a culture of teamwork which keeps employees motivated and interested, with every member of staff working towards the same goal - ensuring the success of the business.

Women in Construction

The Construction and Engineering industries have identified gaps in the number of women working within these sectors, and have several initiatives in place to reduce the shortfall such as the Women in Construction awards. Energetics is a diverse employer and our equal opportunities policy means that we have recruited many women to roles that are traditionally filled by males in the engineering and construction sectors.

The women who work as part of our design, project management, finance and sales teams, technical clerical roles, and other departments across the organisation, bring with them a wealth of experience which proves to be invaluable to the business. It is important to Energetics to create a productive environment in which everybody feels valued and where their talents are recognised and utilised regardless of gender, or any other differentiators.

Grow With Us

Our forward-thinking values and business culture as a modern employer have helped us to grow our workforce with equally ambitious and hard-working employees, and our recruitment drive is continuing. With the construction sector growing and with strong financial backing behind our business, Energetics is expanding rapidly and we need people like you who are keen to join us on our journey to becoming one of the UK’s foremost multi-utility network connections companies.

In addition to the benefits, training, development and equal opportunities that Energetics offers, we feel it’s important to add the long-term career prospects that a role with Energetics brings.

We currently have over 30 roles that we need filling from senior managerial roles through to operational and administrative. Take a look at our Employee Testimonials and Career Opportunities pages to see why you should consider Energetics as your Employer of choice.
